Children’s Holistic Special Needs Physiotherapy

I have worked within a variety of large multi-disciplinary teams in a variety of settings including hospitals, clinics, schools (main stream and special needs), nurseries and clients’ homes.

My experiences have included the use of group therapy, hydrotherapy, rebound therapy, soft play and sensory sessions.

As a physiotherapist I am able to offer:

  • Holistic individual programmes aimed at promoting normal developmentCeleese 2015-16
  • Specialised neuro-developmental therapy (including concepts of Bobath Therapy)
  • A sensory integration approach
  • Prescription and management of 24-hour postural management equipment
  • Prescription and management of orthotics, serial casting and lycra fittings
  • Rehabilitation following the appropriate administration of Botulinum Toxin injections
  • Rehabilitation following a variety of appropriate surgical procedures
  • A holistic approach through a combination of complementary healing

I am also knowledgable on the process of hip surveillance during early years and the use of Pavlik harnesses during the treatment of developmental dysplasia of the hip.

Furthermore, I am experienced in working with children undergoing the Ponseti method of correction for clubfoot and was blessed to have had the opportunity to shadow and learn from the inspirational, passionate and dedicated Dr J. Morcuende (MD, PhD) and his surrounding team at the University of Iowa Department of Orthopaedics & Rehabilitation where the method was first developed by Dr Ponseti.

Child protection responsibilities were taught and maintained throughout my NHS paediatric posts including the completion of ‘Safeguarding Children – Level 3 training’.
